Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking an Engineering Technician IV or V in support of the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center. This position will provide electrical technical support on electronic controls, wiring and components for AC&R Systems. Having experience with Programmable Logic Controls is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate will have had experience with some or all of the following systems:

HP/MP/LP Systems: These systems include compressor, PLC, piping and electrical controls associated with compressors including:

  • Dresser-Rand/Rix/Meggit/Bauer/Sauer HP ACs,
  • Rix/Sauer MP ACs,
  • Dresser-Rand/Rix/NASH LP ACs.
  • Electronic Dry Air and Dehydrators. These systems include:
  • Dry air panels,
  • Pressure regulator valves,
  • Low air control air panels,
  • Dew points,
  • Intelligent material devices (IMD).
  • Pressure Air Systems. These systems include:
  • HP/MP/LP air valves,
  • HP/LP air reducing manifolds,
  • Air flow measurement and calculations.
  • Deballast Air Compressors

HVAC SYSTEMS—The contractor must provide electrical technical support for the following HVAC systems:

A/C Plants. These systems include:

  • Reciprocating A/C plant R-12, R-22 and R-134a,
  • Centrifugal A/C plants R-114, R-236fa and R-134a,
  • Rotary A/C plants,
  • Fan coil unit (FCU) plants,
  • A/C compressors,
  • Condensers,
  • Evaporators,
  • Thermal expansion valves (TXV),
  • A/C plant capacity control systems,
  • Chilled water systems,

Refrigeration Plants. These systems include:

  • Reciprocating R-12, R 22, and R-134a refrigeration plants,
  • Refrigeration compressors,
  • Condensers,
  • Evaporators,
  • Refrigeration plants capacity control systems,
  • Freeze and chill boxes.

Ventilation Systems. These systems include:

  • Ventilation fans,
  • Re-heaters,
  • Pre-heaters,
  • Cooling coils,
  • Thermostats,
  • Chill water pumps,
  • Air flow measurements,

 Heating and cooling load calculations.

  • Supply and exhaust fans,
  • Toxic gas vent dampers,
  • CPS balancing dampers,
  • CPS pressure control valves.

Job Requirements

Security Clearance: An active SECRET security clearance is required. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent in the design, installation, test and repair of Surface Fleet or submarine HM&E or similar equipment
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Some positions may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Position may require travel
