Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated individual in support of the US Coast Guard. The position will provide HM&E engineering support services to the Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) in Norfolk, VA. Assistance will include creating and reviewing Engineering Changes, planning availabilities, reviewing work specifications, cost estimating and developing QA plans.

The individual will support the Medium Endurance Cutter Product Line by developing repair specifications, authoring cost estimates, developing Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) & Engineering Changes, and reviewing technical drawings and reports.

  • None

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge and experience in the ship repair industry including dry docking, test and trials, and non-destructive testing. Must also have knowledge of shipboard systems.
  • Must have at least one of the following certifications: Formal Welding or Weld Inspector training similar to: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Examiner (CWE), Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS);  ASNT NDT Level I, II or II, ASNT NDT Trainee, ASNT NDT Instructor.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in the marine engineering field.  Preferred experience with the Coast Guard.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience reviewing weld test procedures for the marine industry.
  • Must have knowledge and training to review shipyard weld certification documents and develop repair specifications with aluminumn and steel weld requirements.
  • Must posses formal training inVisual Weld Inspection, Arc Welding Inspection and Quality Control, Liquid Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Weld Inspection, and Arc Welding Process Technology
