Job Description

THOR Solutions, LLC is actively seeking a highly motivated Marine Engineer in support of the US Coast Guard. The position will provide engineering support services to the USCG in Washington, DC in the following areas: Propulsion Systems, Auxiliary Systems, Deck Systems, Boat Handling Systems, Stores/Cargo Handling Systems.

The Marine Engineer's responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide technical assessments of  shipbuilder design deliverables.
  • Support development of propulsion and auxiliary systems specifications.
  • Support development of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) and Data Item Description (DID) documents.
  • Develop Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) & Engineering Changes (EC).
  • Draft Statements of Work and cost estimates in support of post-delivery activities.
  • Work on ship construction and repair specifications.

Job Requirements

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • An ideal candidate currently possesses an active Secret clearance.

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Have a working knowledge of engineering disciplines related to propulsion and auxiliary systems.
  • Have experience with government vessel design, construction, and repair with primary focus on one of the following marine fields: Piping and Pressure Vessels; Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration; Hydraulics and Weight Handling Equipment; Propulsion Systems; Auxiliary Systems; or Ship Support Systems.
  • Have experience performing detailed design and analysis in order to evaluate planned engineering changes in support of major shipbuilding acquisition and repair projects.
