Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated individual in support of the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center. This position will provide Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems technical support to all USN ship classes. The ideal candidate will need be a highly motivated individual with experience performing mechanical and/or electrical services on USN ship classes with regards to AC&R Systems.

The candidate will have experience working with some or all of the following systems or procedures: 

  • HP/MP/LP Systems:
    • Dresser-Rand/Rix/Meggit/Bauer/Sauer HP ACs
    • Rix/Sauer MP ACs
    • Dresser-Rand/Rix/NASH LP ACs.
    • Electronic Dry Air and Dehydrators. These systems include:
      • Dry air panels
      • Pressure regulator valves
      • Low air control air panels
      • Dew points
      • Intelligent material devices (IMD)
    • Pressure Air Systems. These systems include:
      • HP/MP/LP air valves
      • HP/LP air reducing manifolds
      • Air flow measurement and calculations
    • Deballast Air Compressors
  • A/C Plants. These systems include:
    • Reciprocating A/C plant R-12, R-22 and R-134a
    • Centrifugal A/C plants R-114, R-236fa and R-134a
    • Rotary A/C plants
    • Fan coil unit (FCU) plants
    • A/C compressors
    • Condensers
    • Evaporators
    • Thermal expansion valves (TXV)
    • A/C plant capacity control systems
    • Chilled water systems
    • Chlorinators
  • Refrigeration Plants. These systems include:
    • Reciprocating R-12, R 22, and R-134a refrigeration plants
    • Refrigeration compressors
    • Condensers
    • Evaporators
    • Refrigeration plants capacity control systems
    • Freeze and chill boxes
  • Ventilation Systems. These systems include:
    • Ventilation fans
    • Re-heaters
    • Pre-heaters
    • Cooling coils
    • Thermostats
    • Chill water pumps
    • Air flow measurements
    • Heating and cooling load calculations
  • CPS. These systems include:
    • Supply and exhaust fans,
    • Toxic gas vent dampers,
    • CPS balancing dampers,
    • CPS pressure control valves.

Job Requirements

Security Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have an active SECRET security clearance. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Experience  

  • Must have the following or be able to ascertain the following certifications:
    • EPA 608 Certification
  • Preferred Certifications
    • NEC 4291 or NEC 742B
  • Knowledge of Navy Maintenance Procedures
  • Preferred Naval AC&R Background (Engineman, Machinist Mate, Electricians Mate or Contractor)
  • 5+ Years of Navy Maintenance Background
