Job Description

THOR Solutions, LLC is seeking candidates to fill a variety of Marine Engineer, Shipboard Inspection, and Electrical Engineering positions providing Military Sealift Command with Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Structural, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, Shipboard Material Readiness Inspection, Testing and Survey Services, Safety Assessment, Training, Audit and Safety Investigation, Safety Management System (SMS) Support, Environmental Protection Systems Assessments Surveys and Training Support, Damage Control and Environmental Programs Support, Risk Analysis and other specialized services that may be required on an as-needed basis in support of overall shipboard material readiness.

  • Provide MSC with the following support for the Safety Management System (SMS) Program
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis’ on MSC class vessels
  • Provide SMS support to Program Managers for at least six months
  • SMS Procedure development
  • SMS Procedure Technical Review
  • SMS Corrective Action Plan Validation Support
  • Annual ISM Safety Management System Audits
  • Conduct annual Internal Audit (IA) of the SMS on board 50 MSC ships
  • Conduct annual External Audit (IA) of the SMS on board 25 MSC ships
  • Conduct of an MSC ISM DOC Audit each year
  • Conduct of an MSC ISM DOC external Audit each year 2.5 years
  • Assess health of MSC SMS program
  • SMS Training Video Development
  • Perform Safety investigations at the request of MSC.
  • May require rapid response and travel.

Job Requirements

Security Clearance Requirement:

  • A CONFIDENTIAL clearance is required for this position

Certification Requirements:

  • Actively holds or previously held a USCG Merchant Marine Credential, with the following rating and endorsements: a minimum of Chief Mate, unlimited tonnage, or First Assistant Engineer of steam/motor/gas turbine, unlimited horsepower.
  • Possess an ISM Auditor Certification or a valid OCIMF Ship Inspector Accreditation or a current Certified Safety Professional accreditation issued from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Provide evidence showing the individual held a USCG Merchant Marine Credential, with the following rating and endorsements: a minimum of Chief Mate, unlimited tonnage, or First Assistant Engineer of steam/motor/gas turbine, unlimited horsepower.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ actual sea service sailing under that license on board a USCG certificated ship
  • Possess an ISM Auditor Certification or a valid OCIMF Ship Inspector Accreditation or a current Certified Safety Professional accreditation issued from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
  • A minimum of four years of experience conducting audits IAW ISM Code.
  • Shall also demonstrate experience with SOLAS, Life Saving Appliance Code, International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, CFR 33, CFR 46, MARPOL, and Fire Safety System Code.
