Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer (Task Lead Engineer) with a strong background in Structural/Mechanical/Marine Engineering. The position will provide HM&E engineering support services to the USCG in Washington, DC.

The individual will support the US Coast Guard by providing technical assessments of  shipbuilder design deliverables, support in development of HM&E systems specifications, support in development of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) and Data Item Description (DID) documents, develop Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) & Engineering Changes (EC), draft Statements of Work and cost estimates in support of post-delivery activities, and work on ship construction and repair specifications.

Skills and Abilities:

  • BS in Mechanical/Marine/Structural Engineering with seven (7) years demonstrated experience with government vessel design, construction, and repair with primary focus on hull structures and mechanical systems.
  • Experience performing structural analysis including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience performing fatigue life analysis in order to evaluate planned engineering changes in support of major shipbuilding acquisition and repair projects.
  • Qualified candidate shall have experience performing detailed design and analysis in order to evaluate planned engineering changes in support of major shipbuilding acquisition and repair projects

Security Clearance:

  • Must have an Active Secret clearance

Job Requirements:

  • Provide engineering support in the analysis of all technical issues and design challenges pertaining to all ship systems.
  • Communicate and participate in IPTs and working groups with Navy entities in support of the program.
  • Support the Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and capture action items.
  • Coordinate and participate in the creation of technical papers, studies, and reports on emerging issues.
  • Analyze technical reports from third party design validation sources and make recommendations to the Government.
  • Provide all analysis feedback through generated Design Review Reports.
  • Assist in the review/or preparation of acquisition documents such as SOWs and specifications for external activities.
